VISA Information
The Visa Section of the Embassy of Japan in the Federated States of Micronesia takes care of the issuance of visas to enter Japan.
Chuukese and Yapese are eligible to apply visa at the Japan Consulate in Guam, but copy of visa application and supporting documents must be submitted first to this Embassy for review prior to applying at the Consulate.
<CATEGORIES OF VISA>
- Temporary Visitor Visa
A Temporary Visitor Visa is for those who intend to stay in Japan for 90 days or less for such purposes as sightseeing, visiting relatives, friends, etc.
- Transit Visa
Transit Visa is for those who transit to another foreign country via Japan.
DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED WITH VISA APPLICATION
When applying for a visa, the applicant must apply in person at the Embassy. The following documents must be submitted whatever the purpose of the visit:
-valid passport
-one 45mm x 45mm passport-type photo taken within previous six months
-one official visa application form, available at the embassy or you may use application on next page.
-flight schedule
Note: The Embassy reserves the right to request for additional documents for further clarification in any cases.
Visa Fee (effective April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016)
Single Entry Visa $27
Double/Multiple Entry Visa $55
Transit Visa $6
The Japanese Visa Application has been modified and affective March 1st, 2012. All FSM citizens applying for a visa must use the new form.
