Reception in Commemorstion of the Great East Japan Earthquake

 

The Embassy of Japan held a reception on March 16, 2012 in commemoration of the Great East Japan Earthquake that struck Japan on March 11, 2011 at Cliff Rainbow Hotel. In the reception Ambassador Suzuki delivered his speech and following his speech, FSM representative, Mr. Samson Pretrick, Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Federated States of Micronesia made a speech.

 

Ambassador Suzuki in his remarks noted that right the next day following the disaster; FSM President Mori offered his condolences through Foreign Secretary Robert  to Ambassador Suzuki. Also, he mentioned his appreciations towards a lot of supports and messages from the FSM people. He stated that the warmth of the FSM people and the prominent friendship between Japan and the FSM were some of the ‘first things’ that he learned upon arriving in Pohnpei.

 

At the reception, there were also pictures and DVDs which are capturing the disaster were shown and gave people who had not much opportunity to see visually about the earthquake to know about what happen at the time. Those pictures and DVDs made impacts on guests and some said it is also useful for the FSM people to learn about the disaster prevention.
