Handover Ceremony of the Project for Expansion of Preschool Building for United Church of Christ in Pohnpei Preschool in Pohnpei State

On February 17, 2017, the handover ceremony was held for the Project for Expansion of Preschool Building for United Church of Christ in Pohnpei Preschool in Pohnpei State which provided US$176,277 for United Church of Christ in Pohnpei Preschool under Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects. The objectives of this project are to promote children’s welfare and to improve the environment for early childhood education through expansion of a preschool building.
In his address, His Excellency Ryoichi Horie, Ambassador of Japan, emphasized the importance of cooperation with beneficiaries. He expressed his delight for the completion of the beautiful building and the sincere hope that the children who will support our future will grow up well in the new building. The Hon. Rev. Bethwel Henry, Chairman-Education Com. acknowledged Embassy of Japan for the comprehensive support. The Hon. Samson Pretrick, Deputy Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs, stated this project would truly enhance the education and the bright future for the preschool pupils. Followed by addresses, the keys for the new building were handed over from the contractor to His Excellency Ryoichi Horie, then Ambassador Horie handed them over to the Hon. Samson Pretrick, and they were handed over to the Rev. Bender Enicar, the president of UCCP Church Council.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Principal and Vice Principal of UCCP Preschool, representatives and staffs of UCCP, staffs of ABCOR Engineering and Construction, governmental staffs, all interested parties of UCCP preschool and staffs of Embassy of Japan.
