Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Project for Construction of Multipurpose Center in Sokehs Municipality, Pohnpei State

On June 23, 2015, Ambassador Masaki Sakai was invited to attend the ground breaking ceremony for the Project for Construction of Multipurpose Center in Sokehs Municipality, Pohnpei State(Total 194,628 USD). A big crowd gathered to witness this great event which is one of the first projects of its kind to be held in the Sekere Community.
The remarks given by key speakers from the state government and community leaders were all similar in their excitement that this project has finally reached this point and hope that the project will progress quickly and successfully. Ambassador Sakai gave the ground breaking address and in his remarks he introduced a Japanese word that he has also used on different occasions that describe the “strong ties or bonds” between people, organizations or two countries. This word is “Kizuna”. He used this word to describe the ever growing ties between Japan and the FSM and encouraged the Sekere community to take this opportunity and strengthen thekizuna amongst themselves by fully utilizing the newly constructed gym for variety of activities such as sports and cultural events.
The event was witnessed by a few members of the Pohnpei State Legislature, community leaders, members of the community and Embassy staff.
