Participation at Kamorale Expo 2026

On July 21, Chargé d’affaires a.i. Hamano attended the opening ceremony of the Kamorale Expo 2026 held between July 21 – 24. The Kamorale Expo, formerly known as the Micronesia Expo, made its round through the four states of Pohnpei, Kosrae, Chuuk, and Yap from 2022, and was celebrated at the national level this year.
 
“Kamorale” is the national greeting of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), combining the first two letters of the greetings from all four states – “Kaselehlie” from Pohnpei, “Mogethin” from Yap, “Ran Annim” from Chuuk, and “Lenwo” from Kosrae – coined as an expression to identify FSM’s unity, despite the FSM being spread across the North Pacific with different cultures across the states. This year’s Kamorale Expo was held under the theme “Kamorale Soarentu FSM - Our Culture, Our Story thriving in the Digital Era.”
 
During the duration of the Expo, the representatives from each state and of the international community made cultural showcases, including dances and food demonstrations, and vendors set up booths to showcase their products from across the FSM.
 
The Embassy of Japan, alongside the diplomatic corps and international organizations, set up a booth to showcase Japan’s traditional culture and development assistance provided to the FSM, and welcomed the leaders of the FSM, guests from across the four states, and from the international community.
