Courtesy Call on T.H. Ricky Cantero, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs

On June 17, Ambassador Kagomiya paid a courtesy call on T.H. Ricky Cantero, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, who assumed office on May 18. The Secretary had served as Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs since November last year and has now officially been appointed Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
The Secretary expressed gratitude for Japan's support to the FSM, and opinions were exchanged on FSM's politics and economy, ongoing ODA projects, the friendly relations between Japan and the FSM as well as between Japan and the Pacific Island Countries, and other matters.
Ambassador sincerely congratulated the Secretary on his appointment and reaffirmed that Japan will continue to support the FSM and strengthen the long-standing friendly relations, or "kizuna" between Japan and the FSM.
