Handover Ceremony for the Piano Donation by Takeda Gakki and Kyowa Shipping Co., Ltd.

On February 13, 2026, Ambassador Kagomiya attended the handover ceremony for the piano donation held at College of Micronesia (COM). A total of five pianos were generously donated to COM, a few schools in Pohnpei state and the president office by Takeda Gakki (Takeda Musical Instruments, Mr. Tokiyasu TAKEDA) and transported to Pohnpei courtesy of Kyowa Shipping Co., Ltd. (President: Mr. Hiromitsu TAKAMATSU). Upon arrival in Pohnpei, the instruments were transported and installed by Mr. Rich Adams and Pohnpei Transfer and Storage, Inc. (PT&S) staff.
 
In his remarks, Ambassador Kagomiya expressed his deep gratitude to Takeda Gakki and Kyowa Shipping Co., Ltd., highlighting the long-standing ties between Kyowa Shipping Co., Ltd. And the FSM. He conveyed his hope that the donated pianos would be effectively utilized to contribute to local education, and that children would continue to enjoy music in a nurturing environment.
 
The ceremony featured performances by the choirs of COM and Seventh-Day-Adventist (SDA) School, followed by the presentation of donation certificates. The program concluded with piano performances by Ms. Komatsu, a JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (JOCV) who is teaching music at Pohnpei Catholic School (PCS), a student from PCS and Dr. Muller, a music teacher at COM, using the donated piano.
