Signing Ceremony for the Procurement of an Excavtor for Sokehs Municipality

On February 6, 2026, Ambassador Kagomiya signed the Grant Contract for "The Project for the Procurement of Equipment for Reparing Secondary Roads in Sokehs, Pohnpei State", in Sokehs Municipality, Pohnpei State.
The US$98,919 Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project will cover the cost to purchase the equipment – an excavator and a tool kit for maintenance. The excavator will be used for repairing and maintaining the secondary roads largely made of coral which has deteriorated and aims to improve the commute, transporting of goods, and accessing essential services for the residents in Sokehs Municipality.
Ambassador Kagomiya handed over the grant check to Sokehs Municipality and stated that this will benefit the local community as the roads are important transportation links that connects the communities, the agriculture areas, and the local markets. This procurement project to support the FSM is an example of various efforts of Japan. Ambassador Kagomiya hopes this project proceeds smoothly and will help to improve the livelihood in Sokehs Municipality as well as contribute to the sustainable development of the Federated States of Micronesia.
