In his remarks, he stated that this gymnasium is used by more than 150 students for multiple purposes such as sports events and emergency use during natural disasters. It is a facility necessary for a vibrant school life, empowering youth in both physical and mental well-being, shaping values, and building a broad perspective through various school activities and then nurturing future leaders of the country. Ambassador also emphasized that Japan stands strong to continue working together with the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) to promote education, health, human development, and human security.
The principal of the school, Mr. Russell Figueras, expressed his gratitude to the government and the people of Japan, and ensured that students and school staff will be mindful of regular maintenance of the facility.
After the ribbon cutting, a heartfelt memorial video was played at the gymnasium. It was a reflection and reminder of the past years of friendship and collaboration between the Embassy of Japan in the FSM and the students, teachers, and staffs of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School.
