2026/2/2
On Monday, January 19, Ambassador Kagomiya invited Japanese residents to the Ambassador's official residence and held the 2026 New Year's Greeting Exchange Reception. More than 40 Japanese residents attended the reception, including Japanese people permanently residing or living in the Federated States of Micronesia(FSM), JICA Micronesia Office members, JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers(JOCV), and those who have contributed to the Project for Expansion of Pohnpei Port.

In his New Year's greetings, Ambassador Kagomiya mentioned that 2025 was a year of active exchange and strengthened relations between Japan and the FSM, with Mr. Wesley W. Simina, President of the FSM, visiting Japan twice and the Project for Expansion of Pohnpei Port commencing. He expressed his aspiration for 2026 to further strengthen relations between Japan and the FSM with the cooperation of all Japanese residents in the FSM.

After Ambassador Kagomiya's toast, attendees conversed while enjoying New Year's dishes and sake prepared by Mr. Hara, Chef of the Embassy of Japan, and celebrated the New Year in a peaceful atmosphere, including ukulele performances by Japanese residents.
