The handover ceremony of the medical container lab

On November 18, Ambassador Kagomiya attended the handover ceremony of the medical container lab held at Pohnpei State. The Government of Japan provided container labs that meet the necessary biosafety levels for handling COVID-19 and other viruses to the three states of the Federated State of Micronesia (FSM): Pohnpei, Chuuk, and Kosrae through grant aid. The handover ceremony was held with online connections to Chuuk and Kosrae states.
In his speech, Ambassador Kagomiya stated that this project provides an opportunity to reaffirm the enduring friendship and cooperation that have been built between Japan and the FSM, and it is expected to improve the quality of medical care, strengthen disaster response capabilities, contribute to community resilience and build a foundation for sustainable development.
 
 The handover ceremony was attended by officials from the FSM National Department of Health and Social Affairs and the health departments of the three states, who expressed gratitude for Japan's cooperation, stating that the project contributes to the sustaining and strengthening the community and enhancing the relationship between the FSM and Japan.
