Condolences on the passing of Secretary Robert

2025/11/17
We extend our deepest condolences on the passing of the Honorable Lorin S. Robert, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs(DFA) of the Federated States of Micronesia(FSM), to his beloved wife and family as well as to the DFA and the FSM.
He served for more than forty years, including nearly fifteen years as Secretary of DFA, to the FSM Government and dedicated himself to the establishment of the Diplomatic policy of the FSM.

We truly respect his contribution and leadership. Secretary Robert was also a very good friend to Japanese people. He was the very first person who opened the FSM Embassy in Tokyo immediately after the independence.
Since then, he participated in various diplomatic occasions including the bilateral summits, bilateral foreign minister meetings and the Pacific Island Leaders Meetings(PALM) and contributed a great deal to strengthening the friendship between Japan and the FSM. Many Japanese people including politicians, diplomats, business persons and scholars have cultivated friendship with him.
