Visit of Yaizu Fisheries High School Training Vessel “Yaizu” to Pohnpei

On October 16, Ambassador Kagomiya visited the training vessel "Yaizu" of Yaizu Fisheries High School, which was visiting the country during a navigation training. Every year, students from Yaizu Fisheries High School call at Pohnpei Port in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) for onboarding training. They departed Japan on September 25, sailed across the Pacific Ocean while practicing pole-and-line fishing, and arrived at Pohnpei Port in FSM on October 16. This year, they were blessed with favorable sea conditions, and the fishing survey ended earlier than planned due to good catch of skipjack tuna.
 
After engaging in sports exchanges with students from Madolenihmw High School, inviting them to tour the training vessel “Yaizu”, and strolling around the city, the students will continue their voyage back to Japan.
