Application for Japanese Government Scholarship 2026 is now open

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of the Government of Japan offers scholarships to international students who wish to study at Japanese universities.

- Undergraduate Students (Guidelines and Application Form)
- National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) Students (Guidelines and Application Form)
- Specialized Training College Students (Guidelines and Application Form)
- Research Students *Graduate Level (Guidelines and Application Form)
The outline of the scholarship package for this upcoming selection process is as follows.
- Academic Year: Starting April 2026
- Major of study: No restrictions, in principle.
- Duration of Scholarship
- Undergraduate Program: 4 years (6 years for medical students)
- National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) Program: 3 years
- Specialized Training College Program: 2 years
- Research Program (Graduate Level)
- 1-year Japanese language program provided, if necessary.
- Financial support: Tuition (including duration of Japanese language program), living allowance, travel expenses (initial flight from FSM to Japan, and return flight from Japan to FSM) covered.

- Deadline for Application: June 20, 2025 (Friday) at 5:00 pm

- Examinations and Interviews: June 30, 2025 (Monday)

- Japanese language proficiency
- English language proficiency
- Mathematics
- Chemistry, Physics, and/or Biology (for applicable students applying for the Undergraduate or National Institute of Technology Programs)
