A Courtesy Call by Mayor of Tomioka City

On January 17, 2025, Ambassador Kagomiya received a courtesy call by Mr. Yoshinori ENOMOTO, mayor of Tomioka-city, a town of World Cultural Heritage “Tomioka Silk Mill”, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, and his colleague and the representatives from the Tomioka International Exchange Association.
Tomioka-city, which used to be the host town for the FSM during Tokyo Olympics/Paralympics Games in 2021, is now carrying out the International Exchange Program for the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which will start April 13, focusing on the FSM.
Bearing various plans in mind, the mayor visited national and state government officials including Mr. Lorin Robert, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Stevenson Joseph, Governor of Pohnpei State.
Ambassador warmly welcomed the mayor and delegation from Tomioka City and sincerely hopes the friendship between Japan and the FSM as well as between Toimioka City and the FSM strengthen furthermore.
