2024/12/17
On December 3, 2024, Ambassador Kagomiya participated in the handover ceremony of small and smart Mobile Fetal Monitors from the BHN Association, a Japanese Non-governmental Organization aiming to fulfill Basic Human Needs with the information technology, to the Health and Social Services of Pohnpei State.
The BHN Association, financially supported by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity(APT), an intergovernmental organization, has carried out a pilot project to provide the Pohnpei state with small and smart Mobile Fetal Monitors named 'iCTG', which have been produced by the Melody International Ltd., a Japanese digital technology company. The monitors measures heartbeats and tensions of pregnant women in dispensaries and the data are sent to the State Hospital by the Internet so that the doctors there can make diagnosis remotely. After a one-year project including the training for operation and management of the monitors, the monitors were finally handed over to the State.
At the ceremony, Governor Joseph made a welcome remark, which was followed by remarks by Mr. Carl Apis, Secretary of Transportation, Communication and Infrastructure, and Mr. Yasuhito Morimoto, APT. Then Mr. Makoto Yamashita, Chairman of BHN Association formally handed over the monitors to Mr. Stuart Penias, Director, Pohnpei Health and Social Services.
Ambassador sincerely hopes these monitors contribute to health management of pregnant women as well as showcase the effectiveness of digital technology.
