New volunteers dispatched by JICA (Vol.1)

On August 8, Ambassador Kagomiya welcomed 9 Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV), who have been dispatched by JICA to each state of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). The JOCV program is aiming to support economic and social development at grass-roots level and has made a substantial contribution to people- centered development. President Simina of the FSM acknowledged their valuable contribution and called them “the best Japanese ambassadors” at PALM10 meeting. The first batch of JOCV in 2024 includes 1 volunteer in the Chuuk State, 3 volunteers in the Kosrae State, and 5 volunteers in the Pohnpei State.
