Ambassador Kagomiya attended National Fisheries Summit
2024/8/9
On August 5, 2024, Ambassador Kagomiya attended the Opening Ceremony for the FSM 2nd National Fisheries Summit. The Vice President Aren B. Palik delivered a keynote speech and emphasized the importance of sustainable management of fishery resources notably Tuna. He argued that 19% of the GDP derives from fishery sector in 2022 and the FSM has one of the largest fishery resources among the World, but its onshore related industry is underdeveloped. He also emphasized the importance of infrastructure investment such as port as well as the environment for private investment. We sympathize with his statement and hope acceleration of the development of fisheries and related industry.
