“Tanabata” Festival

“Tanabata” festival on July 7, is a traditional festival in Japan. It is believed that only in the night of July 7 in a year, a couple of lovers namely, “Orihime”, a weaving girl, or Vega in the constellation of Lyra, and “Hikoboshi”, a cowman, or Altair in the constellation of Aquila, are allowed to meet. However, if it rains in the night, they cannot meet as the Milky Way between them swells. This story originates from a Chinese legend. In the festival, people wish that the couple can meet. People also write down their own wishes on small strips and hang them on a bamboo tree.
