1st Japan-Pacific Island Countries and Timor-Leste Ship Rider Cooperation Program

From August 6 to August 13, Japan Ministry of defense and the Self-Defense Forces hosted “1st Japan-Pacific Island Countries and Timor-Leste Ship Rider Cooperation Program” on board the JS Izumo. In this program, naval officers or maritime law enforcement officers from 10 pacific island countries including the FSM participated.
On board the JS Izumo, the participants attended wide-ranging activities including seminars on various topics such as UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), an onboard aircraft boarding experience, and presentations on maritime security by the participants. Furthermore, they experienced Japanese culture through activities including making rice balls and Japanese language workshops.
