Handover Ceremony for National Emergency Medical Team in Pohnpei State (WHO)

2023/8/11
On August 8, a joint ceremony by Japan and U.S. was held in front of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) Department of Health and Social Affairs warehouse at Pohnpei State for the handover of equipment necessary for the activities of the National Emergency Medical Team.

Equipment and supplies provided to the federal government include tents, tables, chairs, folding beds, food, water treatment systems, cleaning supplies, medical supplies, generators, and communications equipment, all of which are necessary to sustain emergency medical teams and provide life-saving medical care without burdening the affected communities. This support is part of the WHO's medical project for the FSM, Palau, and the Marshall Islands, for which the Japanese government is providing approximately US$700,000.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Moses Pretrick, Acting Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Affairs, H.E. Michigami Hisashi, Ambassador of Japan to the FSM, T.H. Alissa Bibb, Chargè d’ afffaires at the U.S. Embassy, and Dr. Momoe Takeuchi, Country Liaison Officer for the WHO Northern Micronesia. Mr. Pretrick expressed his appreciation for the support of the Japanese and U.S. governments for the people of the FSM.
