Handover Ceremony for the project to Improve Water Resource Management and upgrade Emergency Communications in Chuuk State

On February 27, 2023, the handover ceremony for the project to Improve Water Resource Management and upgrade Emergency Communications in Chuuk State was held at the Chuuk State Government Building in Weno.
The project includs the rehabilitation of 14 deep wells and a water treatment plant in Chuuk State, and the provision of a water truck and 27 sets of radio equipment to Chuuk State.
The project is a part of Enhancing Disaster and Climate Resilience (EDCR) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which Japan contributed US$7.4 million to implement since March 2019. The EDCR project aims to strengthen the FSM’s ability to respond to the impacts of natural and climate change-related disasters through disaster preparedness and infrastructure improvements.
The ceremony was attended by the Hon. Andrew Yatillman, Secretary of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Management, the Hon. Alexander R. Narruhn, Governor of the Chuuk State, and Mr. Kevin Petrini, Deputy Resident Representative for the UNDP Pacific Office.
