Embassy of Japan hosts Emperor’s Birthday Reception

On February 23rd, 2023, H.E. Hisashi Michigami, Ambassador of Japan to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), hosted Emperor’s Birthday Reception at his residence.
In his address, Ambassador Michigami noted that His Majesty the Emperor, who turned 63 years old on February 23, 2023, has always concerned people’s happiness and world peace. Referring to success of H.E. President Panuelo’s visit to Japan in February of this year, he stated that Japan and the FSM have special bond “Kizuna” for over 130 years. He also noted that personal exchanges between the two countries and ODA projects were returning to normal and that JICA volunteers were expected to start coming back in May.
The Hon. Kandhi Elieisar, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, who represented the Government of the FSM, congratulated the birthday of the Emperor of Japan, explained President Panuelo’s visit to Japan. He expressed his happiness that Japan and the FSM have “Kizuna”, thanked the Japanese government and NGOs for their supports, and wish to strengthen bilateral relationship between Japan and the FSM.
In addition to Secretary Elieisar, the reception was attended by more than 110 people, including the Hon. Yatilman, Secretary of Environment, Climate Change, and Emergency Management, the Hon. Akinaga, Secretary of Resources & Development, the Hon. Apis, Secretary of Transportation, Communication, and Infrastructure Management, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, representatives of the International Organizations, and Japanese residents. The reception was held with installation of hand sanitizers throughout the venue as a measure against COVID-19.
After the ceremony of Kagamiwari, the guests enjoyed the conversations with food, Japanese sake and wines. Many people admired the Hina Dolls and took pictures and videos.
