Visit to Chuuk by the Ambassador Michigami

2022/11/25
Ambassador Michigami Hisashi visited Chuuk State for four days from November 6. During this visit, which was the first in two and a half years due to the impact of the COVID-19. Ambassador Michigami interacted with Governor Alexander R. Narruhn, Speaker of the FSM Congress Wesley W. Simina, and other state dignitaries and local residents. Ambassador Michigami also visited the island of Tonoas, which has a close historical relationship with Japan, as well as schools and facilities where the government of Japan had provided economic assistances, and received a warm and grand welcome. State dignitaries thanked Japan for its support over the years and added that since COVID-19 is coming under control, they hope to expand more exchanges. Ambassador Michigami expects that not only economic cooperation and intergovernmental exchange will develop, but also other interactions, including student programs and tourism would advance in order to strengthen "kizuna" between Japan and Chuuk.
