Handover Ceremony for the Project for Improvement of Educational Environment for Malem Elementary School in Kosrae State.

On October 28, 2022, a Handover Ceremony was held at Malem Elementary School in Kosrae State for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects by the Government of Japan for “The Project for Improvement of Educational Environment for Malem Elementary School, Kosrae State”, amounting up to US$173,095.
This project constructed an auditorium at Malem Elementary School to improve its educational environment in various aspects-some of which allows students to attend physical education classes and other outdoor activities regardless of weather.
At the Ceremony, Ambassador Michigami emphasized the importance of education for the children and the country. He conveyed his hopes that the newly constructed facility will foster a better educational environment at Malem Elementary school, and become a symbol of the friendship between Japan and the FSM. To conclude, he officially commenced the project by presenting it to the Mayor of Malem, Ruben K. Charley.
The Hon. Governor Carson Sigrah expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Michigami and Japan Government for the cooperation. He stated that this auditorium is benefiting for not only the students but also the community.
The ceremony was also attended by the Senator Sasaki George, Principal of the school, the students, the staff of the Governors’ office, and the staff of the Embassy of Japan.
