Ambassador Sobashima Receives PICS Students
2021/5/19
On Wednesday 19 May 2021, Mr. Sobashima Hidenobu, Ambassador of Japan to the Federated States of Micronesia received two groups of senior students of Pohnpei Island Central High School (PICS) at his office in the Embassy of Japan. These visits of the students were made as a part of PICS Career Exploration Week Program, and these students visited the Embassy of Japan for the first time.
The first group which visited the Embassy in the morning, consisted of 15 girls and boys, accompanied by a teacher. The second group which visited the Embassy in the afternoon, consisted of 30 girls and boys, accompanied by a teacher.
The members of both groups asked Ambassador Sobashima the work of the Embassy, the attractions of Japan to its visitors, and the relations between Japan and the Federated States of Micronesia, among other questions. Ambassador Sobashima and Ms. Airi Iizuka, Researcher and Advisor of the Embassy who accompanied the Ambassador, answered these questions.
Ambassador Sobashima took advantage of that opportunity to also explain to the students, many of whom were 18 years old, the advisability of getting the COVID-19 vaccination, comparing the situations in the FSM and Japan, in terms of the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the availability and accessibility of COVID-19 vaccines.
It is hoped that the students who visited the Embassy of Japan will enrich their career exploration.
