Minister for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Suzuki Shunichi and Ama Town visited the Federated States of Micronesia

(Meeting with Acting Secretary for the DFA Cantero)
Minister for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Suzuki Shunichi and Ama Town Mayor Oe visited the FSM on August 21st, and had a meeting with Acting Secretary for the Department of Foreign Affairs Ricky Cantero. At the meeting, he explained about progress of preparation for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, and introduced about the “Host Town Initiative”. Acting Secretary Ricky Cantero welcomed his visit and expressed his hope for FSM’s participation to the Tokyo Olympic, especially in Athletics, Swimming and Wrestling. Moreover, he expressed his appreciation to Minister Suzuki’s activities at the Parliamentary Association for the Friendship between Japan and the FSM as well as the Host Town Initiative which contribute to long term foundation of bilateral relations.

Minister Suzuki and Ama Town Mayor Oe visited OLMC High School on August 22nd and had a meeting with Former President Mori and Former FSM Ambassador to Japan and the Chief Director of the OLMC High School, Kasio E. Mida. After the meeting, Ama Town conducted cultural exchange program with the students, and introduced about their town and its traditional dance (Kinnya Monya Dance). Former President Mori, Chief Director of the School Mida and two representatives of the student had welcome speech. They also appreciated Japan’s various supports to the FSM and expressed hope for further relationships between two countries even after the 2020 Olympics.
