Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the Project for Renovation of Security Fence

On August 20, 2015, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the Project for Renovation of Security Fence for Kolonia Elementary School in Pohnpei State which provided US$86,526 for Department of Education, Pohnpei State under Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects. The objectives of this project are to provide students with a safe learning environment and to prevent damages to school facilities caused by break-ins into the school.
In his keynote address, Ambassador Masaki Sakai pointed out that education is essential for nation building and expressed his respect for those who are making great efforts to improve education in the Federated States of Micronesia. He sincerely hopes that the fence will support students to learn, nurture friendship, and establish KIZUNA (strong bonds) among themselves as well as with people of Japan. The Hon. Marcelo Peterson, Acting Governor of the Pohnpei State Government, showed his gratitude to the government of Japan for presenting generous assistance for development of the country. Followed by the addresses, a ribbon-cutting was carried out by Ambassador Sakai and the Hon. Peterson.
The ceremony was witnessed by Director of Education Joseph Villazon and other staffs of the Pohnpei State Government, principal and teachers of the school, embassy staffs, and people of the community.
