Diplomatic / Official
- Diplomatic: Activities on the part of constituent members of diplomatic missions or consular offices of foreign governments hosted by the Government of Japan, activities on the part of those who are provided with similar privileges and/or immunities as are given to diplomatic missions in accordance with treaties or international customary practices, and the activities on the part of their family members belonging to the same household.
- Official: Activities on the part of those who engage in official business of foreign governments or international organizations recognized by the Government of Japan, and activities on the part of their family members belonging to the same household (excludes the activities described in the section on diplomatic visas).
Required Documents
1）Valid diplomatic/ official passport:☑ properly signed by the bearer.
☑ please make sure that there is at least 1 page left in your passport for a visa to be affixed to.
2）Visa Application Form:
☑ completely filled-out and signed by the applicant.

3）Photo:
☑ 2in X 1.4in
☑ attached to application form.
4) a Note Verbal / Official Letter from goverment or affiliated institution:
☑ the purpose of the journey (assignment to the mission in Japan, attending conferenc, transit etc.).
☑ the applicant's diplomatic/ official title or position.
☑ the place and duration of assignment.
Processing Time
- The time to process an application for a Temporary Visitor visa depends on the applicant's circumastaces. In most cases, it takes four to four working days if the documentation is in Order.
- There are some cases; however, in which a few weeks or more are needed to process an application.
Visa Fees
- Diplomatic/ Official visa fees are exempt.
Note
- Embassy reserves the right to request additional documents if deemed necessary.
- Embassy will not make copies, if you need original documents, please bring original and one copy.
