Handover Ceremony for Procuring Excavators for Japan’s Non-Project Grant Aid


On September 5, 2015, a handover ceremony was held at Pohnpei state for procuring three Excavators for Japan’s Non-Project Grant Aid. The excavators were manufactured by the disaster affected areas caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. This Non-Project Grant is intended to support and facilitate the FSM’s efforts to improve its infrastructure and persevere towards boosting its economy.
In his speech during the ceremony, Ambassador Masaki Sakai presented his hope that granted excavators will be a great support to provide road maintenance as well as the sustainable improvement of the waste treatment facilities in Pohnpei. Ambassador Sakai also expressed his gratitude to all the support from people in FSM toward the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The Hon. Marcelo Peterson, Acting Governor of the Pohnpei State Government, showed his gratitude to the government of Japan for presenting generous assistance for development of the country. Followed by the addresses, a paddle of the canoe which symbolizes the transportation was handed over from Ambassador Sakai to The Hon. Marcelo Peterson.
