On May 29, 2015, a handover ceremony was held at the Sokehs Municipal Government for the Project for Procuring Garbage Trucks in Sokehs Municipality, Pohnpei State, which provided US$77,241for the Sokehs Municipal Government under the grant aid scheme calledGrant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects.The aim for this project is to improve the environment and the sanitation in the community bysupporting the Sokehs Municipal Government to conduct garbage collection activities in villages.
At the handingceremony, the Governmentof Japan handed over a compacting truck and a dump truck to the Sokehs Municipal Government. Preceded the handover ceremony, under the auspices of Japanese engineer dispatched from manufactory of vehicle provided, a one-week training on use and maintenance of compacting truck was held in Sokehs Municipality.Staff of the Sokehs Municipal Government, the Kitti Municipal Government and the Kolonia Town Government participated in the training.
In his speech during the ceremony, Ambassador Masaki Sakai presented his remarks hoping that granted garbage trucks will serve the people of Sokehs fordevelopinga sanitized community.  Representing the Sokehs Municipal Government, Chief Magistrate Michael Lieman acknowledged Ambassador for the generous grant. He also stated that these vehicles will help protect the environment in the communities.
Present at the ceremony were Senator Ferney Perman, Speaker Baldesar Sardis, trainers and trainees, and staff of the Sokehs Municipal Governmentand the Embassy of Japan.
