Signing Ceremony for School Fence Renovation Project at Kolonia Public Elementary School

Speech by Pohnpei Lt. Governor Marcelo Peterson
The project for fence renovation at Kolonia Public Elementary School was signed over to Pohnpei State Government Department of Education and Kolonia Elementary School on March 23, 2015 through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects and the Ceremony was held at Kolonia Elementary School.  This project will provide 94,140 USD for the school.
The goal for this project, “the Project for Renovation of Security Fence for Kolonia Elementary School in Pohnpei,”  is to provide a safe learning environment where each and every child will be safe and secure every single school day.
Chief of Elementary, Mr. Pete SP Leon, show his gratitude for the generosity fund from the Government of Japan. He stated that this fund will renovate the fence around the school premises and will keep safe and secure environment for the children. Counselor, Mr. Shingo Higashimoto, presented his remarks that he is assured that this grant will improve student’s learning environment and glad that the Government of Japan was presented this opportunity to be actively involved in the education of FSM’s younger generation as our shared asset for better future. The final remark was by Pohnpei Lt. Governor Marcelo Peterson, who expressed his sincere gratitude to the people of Japan for making this project possible.
Presented at the ceremony were Pohnpei Lt. Governor Marcelo Peterson, Chief of Elementary Mr. Pete SP Leon, Director of Education Mr. Joseph Villazon and staff from the Embassy of Japan in the FSM.
