On March 11, 2013 the Government of Kosrae received two excavators and one loader truck through its Division of Agriculture and Land, Department of Resources of Development and Economic Affairs. The items were granted through the Embassy of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects. The project amount of $120,490 USD was first signed over to Kosrae Government on July 30, 2012 but the items were finally handed over during this ceremony.

The equipments will provide rental service for farmers and constructions of farm roads and drainage. Since farming plays a major role in Kosrae’s development, health issues, and food security; the granting of these equipments gives a great boost to Kosrae’s efforts towards economic strength, stable development of agriculture, and people’s health.

Governor Lyndon Jackson received the grant on behalf of Kosrae Government and representing the Embassy of Japan was Counselor Masaki Tani.
