Introductory Reception of Ambassador Sobashima

On November 21st, Japanese Ambassador Sobashima and his wife hosted their introductory reception at their official residence. Over 100 guests were present then including representatives from the FSM National Government, State Governments, diplomatic missions, international organizations, and the Japanese community.
In his address, Ambassador Sobashima outlined the historical and current relations between Japan and the FSM, and introduced with satisfaction that President David Panuelo of the FSM visited Japan already twice to attend the Enthronement Ceremony of the Emperor of Japan, and to pay a bilateral visit to have a fruitful meeting with Prime Minister Abe, after his arrival in October. He also shared the gathering with the information that former FSM Ambassador to Japan Kasio Mida received the Order of Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star two weeks before, and congratulated him. Ambassador Sobashima expressed his determination to do his best to further advance the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Mr. Kasio Mida celebrated Ambassador Sobashima’s arrival to the FSM, as well as conveyed his gratitude for having received the Imperial Honors and said that he would continue to endeavor to strengthen the friendly ties between the FSM and Japan.
After the toasts, the guests enjoyed the conversations over the various food and desserts prepared by Mr. Waki, the official residence’s chef, with such drinks as Japanese sake and wines.
