Ambassador Sakai hosted a send-off reception for The Hon. Speaker Simina and FSM Congress Delegation Visiting Japan and Attending “Nagasaki Atomic-Bomb Victims Memorial and Peace Praying Ceremony”

    On August 5, 2015, a send-off reception for The Hon. Speaker Simina and FSM Congress Delegation attending “Nagasaki Atomic-Bomb Victims Memorial and Peace Praying Ceremony”   in Japan was held at the Japanese Ambassador’s Residence.  

    In his remarks, Ambassador Masaki Sakai warmly welcomed Speaker Simina and FSM Congress Delegation and mentioned that he expected the visit would further strengthen relationship between FSM and Japan and Speaker Simina and FSM Congress Delegation would have great  and fruitful time in Japan.

    The Hon. Speaker Simina replied to Ambassador Sakai that he was grateful to have this opportunity to attend the Nagasaki Atomic-Bomb Victims Memorial and Peace Praying Ceremony. He also mentioned that he and his delegation were impressed by Foreign Affairs of Japan that made the visit possible even though it was with such a short notice.  Speaker Simina has long hoped to obtain an opportunity to become a part of Atomic-Bomb Victimes Memorial and Peace Praying Ceremony, especially after the meeting with Special Envoy Keiji Furuya who was personally appointed by Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to represent the Government of Japan during the FSM Joint Inauguration ceremony in July.

    The Hon. Speaker Wesley Simina, Vice Speaker Berney Martin, Senator Ferny Perman and Mr. Lam Dang arriced at Fukuoka on August 7 and attended the ceremony on August 9.
