2013-2014 Japanese-Language Programs for Foreign-Service Officers/Public Officials pays Courtesy Call on Ambassador Suzuki
Mr. Jefferson Saul, the 2013-2014 participant of the Japanese-Language Program for Foreign-Service Officers/Public Officials paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Suzuki on August 26, 2013. The training is co-hosted by The Japan Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and will commence on September 18, 2013 and conclude May 14, 2014. This program is intended for officials who wish to learn the Japanese language for work purposes.
During the courtesy call, Ambassador Suzuki congratulated Mr. Saul for this opportunity and thanked him for his interest in learning Japanese language. Mr. Saul, who is a health inspector for the Pohnpei State Environment Protection Agency (EPA), says he often comes into contact with Japanese fishing vessels who have little knowledge of English, making it difficult to communicate with. He says this program will definitely benefit his day-to-day work.
Mr. Saul is expected to be in Japan for approximately eight months for the duration of the program. He is excited and looking forward to experiencing Japan for the first time.
