Ambassador Sakai paid courtesy calls on the new Speaker Wesley Simina and Floor Leader Florencio Harper on May 28 at the FSM Congress main office.
Ambassador Sakai exchanged greetings and congratulations on Speaker’s new position. Speaker Simina also expressed his appreciation of the ties between FSM and Japan.
Afterwards, Ambassador Sakai met with Floor Leader Harper and exchanged greetings and discussed historical relationship between two countries and Japan’s grant aid assistances to the FSM.
In the meetings, Ambassador Sakai presented his own made paper titled “Kizuna, Japan & FSM” that summarizes Japan’s efforts and support to the FSM and future plans as well. Kizuna is a Japanese word which means strong bonds. Ambassador Sakai also shared that during his recent visit to the FSM States, he was informed of the many needs such as road improvement and others.
